Planting and top dressing fertiliser, long rains season

Framework agreementIllustrative example, not open for bids

DAP, CAN and NPK blends in 50kg bags, drawn down by cooperatives across the season. Prices are indexed to a published input basket, so a movement in landed cost can be passed through under the terms of the agreement rather than renegotiated.

No indicative value is published for this competition. Demand is still being collected from the participating institutions, and a figure that later turned out to be wrong would be worse than no figure at all.

Member institutions are never obliged to order against the result. A framework sets the price and the terms; each institution decides for itself whether to use them.

What you will need

These are checked before a bid is evaluated. Documents carry expiry dates and we track them, so a lapsed certificate will hold up a submission that is otherwise complete.

  • Certificate of Incorporation or business registration
  • Valid KRA Tax Compliance Certificate
  • KEBS certification for each blend offered
  • Warehousing within the supply region, either owned or contracted
  • Batch level traceability from import or blending through to delivery

How to take part

  1. 1

    Register as a supplier

Send us your company details and what you supply. We open a supplier account and issue a compliance checklist for this category.

  2. 2

    Clear prequalification

Upload the documents listed above. Each one is checked and you can see what is still outstanding. Most first applications need one clarification, which is normal and does not count against you.

  3. 3

    Submit before the deadline

Bids stay sealed until the closing date. Nobody sees a price before then, and that includes us.

  4. 4

    Evaluation and award

Bids are scored against the published criteria and their weightings. Price carries the most weight in most categories, though delivery lead time and past performance are scored too. The award recommendation goes to the association for endorsement.
