Classroom desks, chairs and staffroom furniture
Hardwood two-seater desks, single desks, classroom chairs and staffroom tables, awarded to several suppliers by region. Requirements above 200 units go to a mini-competition among the awarded suppliers rather than straight to the lowest listed price.

What you will need
These are checked before a bid is evaluated. Documents carry expiry dates and we track them, so a lapsed certificate will hold up a submission that is otherwise complete.
- Certificate of Incorporation or business registration
- Valid KRA Tax Compliance Certificate
- KEBS standardisation mark for school furniture
- Public liability insurance of at least KES 5,000,000
- Timber sourcing declaration with mill or supplier named
- A sample desk and chair available for inspection in Nairobi during evaluation
How to take part
- 1
Register as a supplier
Send us your company details and what you supply. We open a supplier account and issue a compliance checklist for this category.
- 2
Clear prequalification
Upload the documents listed above. Each one is checked and you can see what is still outstanding. Most first applications need one clarification, which is normal and does not count against you.
- 3
Submit before the deadline
Bids stay sealed until the closing date. Nobody sees a price before then, and that includes us.
- 4
Evaluation and award
Bids are scored against the published criteria and their weightings. Price carries the most weight in most categories, though delivery lead time and past performance are scored too. The award recommendation goes to the association for endorsement.
